Christian Labenz is a consultant at the Department of Internal Medicine I at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany, and the head of the Cirrhosis Center Mainz.

His research activities are focused on the complications of liver cirrhosis with special emphasis on hepatic encephalopathy.
